A Day with the Community
Forensic Science Programme, USM was involved in a committee project organised by KIMIA Malaysia, held in Sekolah Kebangsaan Kubang Batang, Wakaf Bharu, Kelantan on 22 October 2016 which was officiated by the Director General of KIMIA, Datuk Hj Ismail Talib who also witness the UV light authentication of currency notes. Three undergraduate and one postgraduate students accompanied by three staff from Forensic Science Programme took part in an exhibition, introducing academic programme of the school and demonstrating forensic analysis techniques to more than 2000 students, teachers, local communities, as well as the personnel from other participating agencies.
The student-exhibitors from Forensic Science Programme held early preparation on the exhibits. They were sufficiently trained by the senior science officer, Pn Hafizah Harun, prior to the exhibition.
Visitors, young and old, were attracted by the fingerprint lifting demonstration, skull exhibition and document examination techniques. The programme was a huge success Forensic Science Programme in providing educational information to the communities while building a stronger relationship with the locals and other participating agencies.
